How it Works

Step 1

Complete the FDA-required pre-screening assessment, purchase your COVID-19 Saliva PCR test, and get a lab order. Your test kit will be shipped to the address you provided. Repeat this step for each test that you need.

Step 2

Your test kit(s) will be delivered next day Mon to Sat when you order by 10:00AM MST (AK and HI are second day shipping where next-day is not available). Orders placed after 10AM Saturday or on Sunday are shipped out on Monday. We recommend you order 1-2 weeks before you need to take your test so are sure to have it when needed.

Step 3

If you ordered Video Observation services, then once you have received your kit, go here to schedule time for a video observation session with a member of our Patient Services Team. Have your government-issued photo ID ready. If you are taking this test for travel, schedule your video observation session BEFORE the cutoff time for drop off at your nearest UPS store. Search here to check hours and locations for UPS drop off.

Step 4

Each saliva collection tube has a unique device ID number that is used to link your sample with your results. On the day you take the test, follow testing instructions and register each device ID at register.azova.com. The day you register your device ID is listed as the collection date on your lab report.

Step 5

Provide the sample according to the instructions included with the kit. Ensure all steps are completed accordingly and drop off your kit at your nearest UPS location. Dropping off your kit on a weekend may increase shipping and lab processing times.

Step 6

You will receive your results in 12 to 48 hours after the lab receives your test kit if you purchased the kit with video observation. Otherwise, results are reported in 12 to 72 hours from the time the lab receives your kit. We will send your shareable results through the AZOVA app.

AZOVA test kits are non-returnable/non-refundable.

Frequently asked questions

What is a PCR test and why is it preferred?

A PCR test is a type of "molecular diagnostic test". It is performed in a high complexity laboratory on special machines that are designed to detect the presence of viral RNA particles. If the particles are detected, the test is considered positive. PCR testing is the gold standard and is the most accurate and is more likely to detect the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19 than other tests on the market. A PCR test is most likely to tell you that you have the virus when you do and to tell you that you do not have the virus when you don't.

Why should I consider PCR testing over antigen testing?

PCR testing is much more sensitive than most antigen tests. Most antigen tests have a sensitivity of approximately 80% whereas this PCR test is 98% sensitive. This means that an antigen test would not detect that you have the virus up to 20% of the time even though you do, whereas this PCR test will not detect it only 2% of the time on average. The PCR test is the most sensitive testing option available today.

How is COVID-19 treated?

There is currently no cure for COVID-19 so treatment revolves around managing symptoms. For most people symptoms can be managed at home with rest, fluids and over-the-counter medications. However, some people experience severe symptoms and require hospitalization. If you are experiencing symptoms, you can get an online telemedicine visit here.

What is the recovery time for COVID-19?

According to the World Health Organization, the recovery time for mild COVID-19 cases is about 2 weeks while severe or critical cases can last anywhere between 3 and 6 weeks.

How many test kits can I purchase?

You can purchase as many test kits as you like. Please complete the assessment for each person who needs to be tested. You can order a test for yourself and your family members as needed. You will be required to complete a health assessment and registration for each person and must also register the test kit for each person being tested.

Should I Get Tested for COVID-19?

Testing is available if you are currently experiencing any symptoms consistent with COVID-19, if you have been exposed to someone who was diagnosed with or tested positive for COVID-19, if you live in or were exposed in a high prevalence area, if you need testing for school, work or travel. If you have further questions about your eligibility for COVID-19 testing, you can get an online telemedicine consultation here on this page--just scroll up to find the link.

How does the test work? What does it measure?

The test determines whether you are currently infected by testing for the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in your saliva. It does this by detecting unique genetic RNA markers that are specific to the virus. This is not an antibody test.

Is this test different from tests available at hospitals and doctor’s offices?

Most of the tests currently available use a nasopharyngeal swab. This test uses a simple saliva sample to test for COVID-19.

How do I register my test kit?

You must register your kit at https://register.azova.com before you ship your kit back to the lab. You can only register your kit after you have purchased it.

How do I collect my saliva sample?

Follow the instructions provided with the kit to collect a saliva sample.

How quickly will I receive my COVID-19 test results and how do I get them?

Once you send your kit back to the lab (next day shipping is included where available), you can expect your results within 24-48 hours from the time the lab receives the kit if you purchased the observation services for travelers and within 48 to 72 hours for all others. You will receive an email and/or SMS with a link to securely access and share your results.

Are these test kits covered by insurance?

COVID testing through AZOVA is a self-pay service. We do not bill insurance. We will provide you with a receipt for your purchase and you can submit it to your insurance company, however this is not a guarantee that your insurance will cover the cost of the test. Whether or not your insurance will cover the cost of the test is up to your insurance provider. You can use most HSA or FSA cards to purchase a COVID test, however reimbursement is up to your employer.

Where can I get tested for COVID-19?

You can get tested from home--or anywhere to which you request us to deliver your kit. This service is currently not available in Nevada, Maryland or Pennsylvania.
